The 22nd Hakteknas: Shows LAPAN Innovation for Maritime Monitoring

The highlight of National Technology Awakening Day (Hakteknas) 2017 takes place August 10-13 at Wisma Negara, Center Point of Indonesia, Makassar, South Sulawesi. LAPAN supported the event by displaying aeronautics and space research products for maritime monitoring within the exhibition stand. After the opening ceremonial, Vice President of RI, Jusuf Kalla, visited the exhibition booth of LAPAN.
The 22nd Hakteknas was held by the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education by holding an exhibition called Ritech Expo. Such event was themed "Maritime Development Based on Knowledge” with the sub-theme “The Role of Human Resource and Innovation in Indonesia Maritime Development ".
The exhibition is an annual event to showcase the technological research and innovation results. To date, various leading innovation products from research institutes, universities, industries, local research institute, and innovators, as the work of the nation's young generation, were presented.
Such event becomes a means to give accountability to the public about all the things that have been done by research and development institutions. This event is also a means of coordinating all levels of stakeholders and national interests. This is to increase the spirit of creativity and technological innovation for the progress of the nation.
In his visit, the Vice President of Indonesia, Jusuf Kalla, listened to the Chairman of LAPAN, Prof. Dr. Thomas Djamaluddin. The Chairman of LAPAN informed one of the results of LAPAN technology; LAPAN Surveillance Unmanned Aircraft or known as LSU. The unmanned aircraft has been applied, among others, for coastline monitoring in collaboration with the Geospatial Information Agency. The aircraft is also useful for monitoring the movement of ships, in collaboration with the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries. It has achieved the award of the Indonesian Record Museum as the longest distance flying unmanned aircraft up to 340 km.
LAPAN’s booth was also visited by Minister of Research and Technology of 2011-2014, Gusti Muhammad Hatta. He gave an appreciation to LAPAN who has made innovations in the field of aeronautics and space technology, especially rocket and satellite technology. He encouraged LAPAN researchers to keep innovating even though the research budget is very limited. Meanwhile, The Rector of the Agricultural University of Bogor, Herry Suhardiyanto expressed his enthusiasm in observing the result of LAPAN-A3/LAPAN-IPB satellite technology.
Various satellite imagery results were displayed in the exhibition, including satellite images of Makassar City, also the reefs of Raja Ampat in West Papua, which was hit by the Caledonian Sky cruise ship, as well as video coverage of such satellites.
The visit of Jusuf Kalla was accompanied by the Minister of Research, Technology, and Higher Education, M. Nasir, the 3rd President of Indonesia, BJ Habibie, the Coordinating Minister for Human and Culture Development, Puan Maharani, the Coordinating Minister for Marine Affairs, Luhut Panjaitan, South Sulawesi Governor Syahrul Hasyim Limpo and other invited guests .
