Vice President Jusuf Kalla: Be an Enthusiastic Smart Person!

For the first time, the annual routine agenda of the National Technology Awakening Day (Hari Kebangkitan Teknologi Nasional, Hakteknas) was held overseas of Java. On Wednesday (10/08), the 22nd Hakteknas was held at Center Point of Indonesia, Makassar, South Sulawesi. The event was officially opened by the Vice President of Indonesia, Jusuf Kalla. "Today we are present at Hakteknas not just to celebrate, but also to keep the spirit of innovating," he said. Therefore, he urged the participant to "be an enthusiastic smart person!"
The Minister of Research, Technology, and Higher Education of Indonesia, M. Nasir, in his report, said that the theme of Hakteknas 2017 is "Development of Maritime Based on Knowledge" with the sub-theme "The Role of Human Resources and Innovation in Indonesian Maritime Development."
The Coordinating Minister for Human and Culture Development (Pembangunan Manusia dan Kebudayaan, PMK), Puan Maharani emphasized the importance of innovation in the field of maritime. "The outcome from maritime in Indonesia is abundant. We must continue to innovate so that such outcome can be effective and beneficial to the people of Indonesia," she said.
While the Governor of South Sulawesi, Syahrul Yasin Limpo conveyed how proud are the people of Makassar over the election of Makassar as the host of the Hakteknas 2017. "We and all citizens are very proud. With the implementation of Hakteknas 2017, South Sulawesi is ready to become the main pillar of maritime Indonesia,” he said.
Hakteknas is the milestone in the technology rising of Indonesia. The momentum began with the initial flight of N-250 Gatotkaca aircraft on August 10 1995, in Bandung. LAPAN has a slogan as an encouragement “LAPAN unggul Indonesia maju, LAPAN melayani Indonesia Mandiri” translated as 'LAPAN excels for advanced Indonesia, LAPAN serves for independent Indonesia’.
The role of LAPAN in the maritime sector has been embodied in the first point of LAPAN quickwins, which is the Maritime Monitoring System Based on Aeronautics and Space Science and Technology. In the exhibition booth, LAPAN featured a miniature of LSU-02, an unmanned aircraft, which is useful for coastline monitoring and boat reconnaissance. In addition are information materials on Maritime Broadcasting System (Sistem Embaran Maritim, SEMAR) for shipping safety, Potential Fishing Zone Information (ZPPI), LAPAN-A2/LAPAN-Orari and LAPAN-A3/LAPAN-IPB Satellites to detect ship with Automatic Identification System (AIS) Sensor.
Presented in the event are VVIPs such as the Third President of Indonesia, BJ. Habibie, Minister of The Coordinating Minister for Human and Culture Development, Puan Maharani, The Coordinating Minister for Maritime, Luhut Binsar Panjaitan, RI Members, Indonesian House of Representative Members, The Chairpersons of Non-Ministerial Government Institutions, the ambassadors of countries, the chairpersons of universities, and approximately 2500 invited guests.
