LAPAN Trial of Aeronautics and Space Education Module to Schools

In order to introduce aeronautics and space science to the young generation, LAPAN is currently developing Aeronautics and Space Module/Book. Monday (09/10), the module for junior high school students were tested for teaching material in the presence of students of State Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTsN) 24, Penggilingan, Cakung, East Jakarta.

This is the first time of the testing of the module. LAPAN choose random schools in the area of area of Jakarta and West Java to test such module.

Representing the Public Education Team, Firmanullah informed that the module is classified into four levels, namely Series Number 1 for kindergarten up to grade 3 of elementary school, Series 2 for elementary grades 4-6, series 3 for junior high school, and that last is series 4 for high school level. In its establishment, LAPAN has cooperated with Curriculum Center of Ministry of Education and Culture.

In this road-show, Public Education Team and the educators were received by Vice Principal of School for Curriculum, Esty Kusyanti in Multi-Media Room. Esty thanked LAPAN for making her school as one of the locations for the module testing.

"Hopefully this opportunity, at the same time, becomes a pioneer of cooperation in improving methods and learning materials to students," she said. For that, she hoped this to continue.

Through this trial, it is hoped that LAPAN can get recommendation and input from the educators and learners related to the material. The materials presented were the basic material or general knowledge regarding aeronautics and space, and the introduction of the research conducted by LAPAN. Specifically delivered was the science and technology information about aeronautics, satellite, rocket, remote sensing technologies, and space and atmospheric science and technology.

The educators who presented this module were LAPAN researchers, Zylshal, Arifin Rosyadi Sumaryanto, Afrido Prayogi, and Wigati. On this occasion, there were water rockets materials delivered, from the

making to the launch. Students and teachers could directly watch the launch of the water rocket.
