LAPAN Synergizes with Atma Jaya University in the Development and Regulation of Space Conducts

Tuesday (10/10), a representative from LAPAN was speaking as one of the sources in “the book launching and discussion of space regulation: vision, mission, and implementation challenges” with its author, Prof. Dr. I.B.R Supanca. Such event was held in Yustinus Ballroom of Atma Jaya University, Jakarta.
The Director of Aeronautics and Space Policy Studies Center, Agus Hidayat, in his presentation, said that character of Indonesian space is independent, developed, and sustainable. It is the vision of space conducts set in the Act Number 21 of 2013 concerning Space Conduct and Presidential Decree Number 45 of 2017 concerning the space master plans of 2016-2040.
Independent means that Indonesia has the ability in mastering the space science and technology is equal to other nations. Such mastery relies on Indonesian ability and strength. Thus, Indonesia will be able to compete and advance. The characteristics of an advanced nation are having the human resource with noble personality, competence, expertise, and contribute to the economic growth. Thus, there will be an insurance of the security of humankind, sustainable resource utilization, and the realization of the welfare of society and nation of Indonesia.
The space law aims to manifest the self-reliance and to enhance the competitiveness of nations. This legal basis is to optimize the implementation of space for the welfare of the people and the productivity of the nation. Another function is to ensure the sustainability of the implementation of space for the benefit of present and future generations. This law also provides certainty and legal basis on the space conducts.
While Supanca said, "Atma Jaya University wants to contribute together with LAPAN in this case as the main stakeholder of the space conducts, in the context of policy development and regulation."
On this occasion, LAPAN and Atma Jaya University signed a Cooperation Agreement in the field of research and assessment of aeronautics and space policies. The script was signed by the Director of Aeronautics and Space Policy Studies Center and the Dean of Law Faculty, Atma Jaya University, Dr. Yanti Fristikawati.
The event also presented a space expert from Hongkong University, Prof. Dr. Zhao Yun. The event was attended by participants from various universities, private institutions, ministries, and institutions.
