LAPAN Bandung Holds Observation of Total Lunar Eclipse

LAPAN Space Science Center Held a Total Lunar Eclipse Observation on Wednesday (31/1). LAPAN Bandung was open to the public starting from 18.00 pm to 23.00 pm. Prior to the observation, participants were first listening to the material about the lunar eclipse delivered by Gunawan Admiranto, LAPAN Astronomy Researcher. The theme of the material was regarding the phase of the Lunar Eclipse. Also explained was the synodic period of the full moon. The participants were finally observing the total lunar eclipse on the rooftop.
Early partial eclipse occurs at 18:48 pm
The beginning of the total eclipse occurs at 19:52 pm
The peak of the eclipse occurs at 20:30 pm
The end of totality occurs at 21:08 pm
The end of the eclipse occurs at 22:11 pm
The observations were followed by 150 previously registered visitors and 101 other visitors, assisted by 20 committees consisting of researchers, public relations, engineering technicians, and administrative departments. Some national media also observed with LAPAN Team and the community. The committee also played a show of the lunar eclipse through live streaming in Matahari room. Despite the cloudy atmosphere, the enthusiasm of visitors was very good as they can gain new knowledge and interact with the researchers of LAPAN.
